coffee worth remembering.

This is a personal journal of Irish cafés, not a directory. There are no user ratings, no sponsored placements and no star inflation. Every review is written by one person, in one voice.

How the scores work

Each café is scored out of five in half points on the same six things:

  • Coffee qualityThe cup itself
  • FoodPastries, plates, bakes
  • Atmosphere / vibeMood, light, music
  • SpaceRoom to sit, work and linger: seating, daylight, sockets
  • ServiceWarmth and pace
  • Value for moneyWorth what you paid

Space is about whether you can settle in: enough seats, good daylight and somewhere to plug in if you want to stay a while. Vibe is how the room feels; Space is how well it lets you stay.

The overall score is simply the average of what was rated, rounded to one decimal, so a lovely room can't paper over a flat espresso. If I didn't try something, say no food or a takeaway with no seat, it's marked N/A and left out rather than guessed. Coffee is always rated.

Reviews reflect a single visit on the date shown. Cafés change, menus rotate and baristas move on, so treat every score as a snapshot rather than a verdict for all time.
